Facial Implants

Woman's face

Facial implants are often used in conjunction with other procedures to enhance their results. They can help balance the features of your face after rhinoplasty by defining your chin. On other occasions, midface implants or prejowl implants may be used as cosmetic enhancement of the underlying bony structures to help bring a more youthful appearance. Implants are often used in revision rhinoplasties in patients who were previously over resected, leaving them a scooped out appearing nose.

Chin implants can be used alone or in conjunction with rhinoplasty and typically take 30 minutes to an hour to complete. The implant, made of solid silastic material, is inserted into a pocket through a small incision under your chin. This alone can markedly enhance an off balanced face.

Cheek implants are placed through incisions inside your mouth and may be performed alone or in conjunction with a midface or full facelift procedure. These can enhance genetically deficient bone structures and or loss of facial soft tissue.

Prejowl implants are also placed through an incision under your chin and can mask the development of slight jowling which is usually the first sign of aging in the lower face. These implants come alone or in combination with a chin implant. These implants are often used in conjunction with rhinoplasty or with a facelift.
